Chris A. Graebner
Chris Graebner has been painting all her life. One of her earliest memories is watching in wonder as her mother painted the oak tree in their front yard. As a child she took classes at the Kachina School of Art with Phoenix muralist Jay Datus and as a teenager spent 3 years under the tutelage of Latin American artist, Rafa Fernández.
Over the years Chris has worked in many different media – oil, watercolor, ink, colored pencil, stained glass – and has participated in dozens of shows, both group and individual. A graduate of the botanical illustration program of the North Carolina Botanical Gardens at UNC, she considers plants her favorite subjects. “The more closely you look, the more intriguing they become.”
A member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators and the American Society of Botanical Artists, Chris is a founding member of the Hillsborough Gallery of Arts in Hillsborough North Carolina, where her work is regularly displayed.
