Dino was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. He pursued his undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Toronto, receiving his Bachelor of Science in Zoology in 1991 and his Masters of Science in Biomedical Communications (BMC) five years later. After graduating from BMC, he worked for a biomedical art house for seven years as a scientific illustrator and animator producing visuals, predominately for undergraduate textbook publications. Dino has contributed to over 70 textbooks. Since 2003 he has been working for Artery Studios, a medical legal & animation studio, as an associate art director and medical illustrator. His current freelance projects include paleontological illustrations of North American and Asian meat-eating dinosaurs and working on improving and revising his co-authored book, <em>The Dissection of Vertebrates</em>.
