EXHIBITIONS AND COMPETITIONS

Science Illustration exhibition in Georgia

GNSI member Lore Ruttan is curating an exhibition of science illustration and would like to feature GNSI members working in the U.S. state of Georgia. If you would like to participate contact Lore (lmruttan_at_gmail.com).

Hunt Institute Exhibition of Botanical Art and Illustration

The Hunt Institute will host the 16th International Exhibition of Botanical Art & Illustration in fall 2019 (dates to be determined). The exhibition is open to all botanical fine artists and illustrators working in any medium on paper or vellum (except photography) whose work has achieved a standard of excellence and who have not yet been represented in the International series. Send an Intention to Submit form by February 2, 2018. More information here.

International Project Mars Competition

The SciArt Exchange, in collaboration with NASA, invites college students and early career professionals to shoot a film or make a poster telling the story of human exploration into deep space. Entries are due August 31, 2018. More information here.

Classes begin January 2018

Session I-Graphite
Basic scientific illustration drawing skills in graphite; perspective, proportion; value; textures; introduction to pen and ink; scientific conventions; lighting; transfering and scanning
Tuesdays, January 9-March 12, 2018  1:00 or 7:00 Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)

Session II-Pen & Ink
Pen & Ink is a staple for scientific illustrators. This class gives you an opportunity to immerse yourself to proficiency. Mondays, January 8-March 13  1:00 or 7:00 EDT
