Coquille Board Botanicals - Scott Rawlins
Coquille Board Botanicals with Scott Rawlins
Professor of Scientific Illustration & Design, Arcadia University.
Two-day workshop, November 3 and 4; Saturday & Sunday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Coquille board is a textured paper that reduces drawn lines to a stipple-like pattern resembling a mezzotint. The surface and technique have been described as "quick and dirty." In this special two-day workshop with visiting artist Scott Rawlins, participants will experiment with mixed media on coquille board using black colored pencils to create the "classic" coquille board look, and various colored media (pastel dust, colored pencil, gouache and ink) to produce botanical illustrations that are neither quick nor dirty!
Registration is open for this workshop, presented in partnership with the Cornell Botanic Gardens, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY and the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators. Also check out: Palette of Plant Colors with Camille Doucet offered the following weekend.
