Bird Illustration- GNSI 2011 Spring Workshop
The GNSI sponsored Spring Education Series Workshop is open for Registration! This advanced three-day workshop in bird illustration is taught by master educator and artist, Linda M. Feltner. The workshop will be held April 2-4, 2011, in Kearney, Nebraska, in conjunction with the Sandhill Crane migration.
Any registrations received before February 25th or postmarked the 25th are now eligible for the early registration amount. Coordinator Rick Simonson negotiated an extension with Rowe Sanctuary.
Day One: Anatomy instruction, discussion of approaches and challenges of bird illustration, and classroom sketching.
Day Two: Sketching with live bird models.
Day Three: An early morning foray for a short lecture at the Iain Nicolson Audubon Center and then retreat to the heated blinds at the Rowe Bird Sanctuary to observe and draw Sandhill Cranes and other birds. During this peak migration time, an estimated 500,000 Sandhill Cranes visit the Platte River at the Rowe Sanctuary site.
Interested in this workshop? Apply early! Rowe requires numbers for the blind reservation by mid-February. This will be a popular regional workshop, so once registration opens up to non-members, the classroom will fill quickly.
